Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 10, 2025
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy ("Policy") explains what information Dripwriter, Inc. ("Dripwriter", "we", "us", or "our") collects when you visit our website, use our product pages, browser extension, or web application (collectively, the "Services"), and how we use and protect that information.
Dripwriter does not sell your data and does not train AI models on the contents of your Google Docs. We use your information only to operate and improve the Services and to provide support.
By using the Services, you agree to the collection, use, and sharing of your information as described in this Policy. If you do not agree, you should not use the Services.
1. Scope and applicability
Dripwriter provides services to individual users as well as organizations that enter into a contractual business relationship with us (“Enterprise Customers”). For individual users, Dripwriter acts as the controller of your personal information. For Enterprise Customers, Dripwriter may act as a processor or service provider for certain data that those organizations choose to manage within their accounts, according to the terms of an applicable agreement.
We do not share your information with schools, teachers, or organizations unless such an entity has formally entered into an Enterprise Customer agreement with Dripwriter and you are part of that organization’s approved user group. Enterprise Customer access does not apply to normal Dripwriter accounts. Our Services may also link to third‑party websites or tools (such as Google), whose privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Account information: when you create an account or sign in (for example with Google), we may collect your name, email address, profile image, and authentication identifiers.
- Payment information: if you purchase a paid plan, our payment processor (such as Stripe) collects your payment details (card number, billing address, etc.). Dripwriter itself does not store full card numbers. We may store limited billing information such as the last four digits of your card, card type, and expiration date.
- Writing and document data: when you connect Google Docs and use Dripwriter, we receive Google document IDs and minimal metadata, and we append text you provide into your docs over time. We do not sell your document contents or use them to train our models.
- Support and feedback: if you contact us (for example, by email or in‑app feedback), we collect the information you choose to share so we can respond.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Log data: information your browser or device automatically sends, such as IP address, browser type, operating system, the pages you visit, the time and date of your requests, and referring URLs.
- Usage data: how you use the Services, including the features you use, session durations, word counts, selected durations, and error events. We use this to enforce limits (for example daily word caps) and improve the experience.
- Device information: basic information about the device you use (such as device type, operating system, and browser version).
- Analytics: we may use privacy‑focused analytics tools (such as Posthog or similar products) to understand how the Services are used and to detect performance issues. These tools may set their own cookies or similar technologies.
2.3 Information from third parties
- Sign‑in providers: if you sign in with a provider like Google, we receive basic profile and authentication information from them.
- Service providers: we may receive information from vendors who help us operate the Services (for example, cloud hosting, payment, support, or analytics).
- Other sources: in some cases, we may receive publicly available or partner‑provided information (such as basic organization or school data) to better understand who is using Dripwriter and how to support them.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Services.
- Authenticate you, keep your account secure, and prevent fraud or abuse.
- Connect to your Google Docs and append text on the schedule and settings you choose.
- Enforce plan limits (such as daily word caps, time constraints, or feature access).
- Analyze usage patterns to understand what works and what needs improvement.
- Communicate with you, including sending confirmations, technical notices, updates, alerts, and support messages.
- Respond to your questions and support requests and resolve technical issues.
- Protect the rights, property, or safety of Dripwriter, our users, and others.
- Comply with legal obligations and cooperate with law enforcement when required.
4. Google API usage
When you connect Google Docs, we use Google APIs to:
- Read minimal metadata about selected documents (ID, title).
- Append text that you provide into those documents over the time window you configure.
Our use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Dripwriter only uses Google user data to provide and improve core user-facing features, and never to develop, train, or improve generalized AI or machine-learning models.
5. Cookies and tracking technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to recognize your browser, remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and help us understand how the Services are used.
You can usually instruct your browser to stop accepting cookies or to prompt you before accepting a cookie. If you disable cookies, some parts of the Services may not function properly.
We do not use cookies to sell your data or to run third‑party behavioral advertising on the Services.
6. How we share information
We may share your information with:
- Service providers: such as cloud hosting, payment processors, analytics providers, and customer support tools who help us operate the Services.
- Enterprise Customers: if your Dripwriter account is part of an organization that has entered into a formal Enterprise Customer agreement with us, we may share limited usage information with that organization as needed to administer the Services under that agreement. This does not apply to individual consumer accounts.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- Legal and safety: if we believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to legal process, protect our users or others from harm, or enforce our terms.
We do not sell your personal information, do not share your information with schools or organizations unless they are formal Enterprise Customers, and do not use your document content to train AI models.
7. Data security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to help protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction, such as encryption in transit, access controls, and secure hosting.
However, no system can be completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials safe and logging out of your account when using a shared device.
8. Data retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services and comply with legal obligations. We may retain some information in anonymized or aggregated form for analytics and to improve Dripwriter, and in backups or archives as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.
9. Your choices and rights
You may request to review, update, correct, or delete certain personal information by contacting us at team@dripwriter.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request.
If you wish to stop receiving marketing emails, you can use the "unsubscribe" link in those emails or adjust your preferences where available. We may still send you non‑marketing emails such as account or security notices.
Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under applicable data‑protection laws (for example, rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, or data portability). We will respect those rights where required by law.
10. Do Not Track signals
Some browsers allow you to send a "Do Not Track" signal to websites. We do not currently respond to Do Not Track signals because there is no common standard for handling them, but we limit our use of tracking technologies as described in this Policy.
11. Children
The Services are not directed to children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us at team@dripwriter.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
12. International users
Dripwriter is operated from the United States, and your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries that may have different data‑protection laws than your country. By using the Services, you consent to this transfer and processing, where permitted by applicable law.
13. Contact us
If you have any questions about this Policy, your personal information, or the Services, you can contact us at team@dripwriter.com.
